Shine Ministry
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
-Matthew 5:14-16

Temptation

The following is an object lesson that could be used for temptation. It is from Luke 4: 1-13 about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness and how He overcame it.

In advance, place some cards with tempting situations written on them in a bag or something decorated to look like the wilderness. Be creative and shape the cards like crosses or something going along with the wilderness theme. Call the kids up and explain that this lesson is about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness and talk to them about how He reacted. You could read the scripture from Luke 4: 1-13. Have them draw out a card and either read it out loud or have you read it. Then ask the children what they would do in the situation and what is the right thing to do in the situation. Discuss it with them and the congregation. Finish by saying that if they accept God, He will guide them to do the right thing. The best way that He does this is by having Jesus be an example for us to go by. If we always react the way Jesus would, we will never be lost in the wilderness.

EXAMPLES OF TEMPTING SITUATIONS:
*You didn't study for the test and you can see your neighbor's answers
*You saw someone drop some money
*You see something you want to buy, but don't have enough money. You notice that no one is watching you.
*Your friends are going to play a prank on an elderly lady in the neighborhood and they ask you to join them.
*Your mom has asked you to clean your room, but you notice that your favorite tv show is on.
